What makes us different?

Insightful Music was created in 2009 to bridge the gap between music creators and music performers. By using the latest technology available, Insightful Music is attempting to change the way that music is purchased as well as the way in which composers advertise their music.

Conductors and Educators will love working with Insightful Music because of the ease of use. Music can be purchased digitally and be printed out immediately! Or, for those programs that would rather have printed music delivered to their doorstep, music will be delivered in about a week. Run out of copies? Go ahead and make a few! By charging a base price for each piece, Insightful Music is making sure that composers get compensated fairly.

Composers will enjoy working with Insightful Music for a number of reasons. First, composers will ALWAYS keep the copyright for their music. It is our philosophy that it is not ethical for a company to have control of what an individual has created. Second, since music is sold with a higher base price than traditional publishing companies, composers do not have to worry about losing money due to illegal copies. Finally, as Insightful Music grows, composers will gain commissioning opportunities from our clients. Through commissioning projects, composers will earn larger lump sums for working with the intended performing group.

The founders of Insightful Music, Daniel Leeman and Andrew Beard, are both music educators dedicated to encouraging the creation of music. In creating Insightful Music, they aim to help other educators and conductors feel comfortable commissioning music.

Andrew Manlove

Andrew Manlove is a Colorado native. He recently achieved a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he studied under Dr. Rene Clausen and sang in the Concordia Choir. He currently lives in Pueblo, CO where he teaches middle school music and serves as Director of Music at a local church. He loves working with kids and hopes to teach for a few years before pursuing Master and Doctorate level degrees in Music Theory and Composition.

Lyle Stutzman

Lyle Stutzman recently graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He teaches music at the Elnora Bible Institutein Elnora, IN part of the year and general music for grades 5-12 at Pilgrim Christian Schools in Hutchinson, KS for the remainder of the school year. He conducts the Kansas Youth Chorus and several other area choirs. In addition to the music stuff, he enjoys studying worldviews, raising tomatoes, canning, playing basketball and other sports, grilling, just food in general, and talking with his wife. He and Maria live in Hutchinson, KS.

Thomas Palmersheim

Thomas Palmersheim received his B.S. degree in music education from St. Cloud State and a M.A. degree in music theory and composition from Denver University, studying under Daniel Moe. He has retired after 30 years of teaching music at Hibbing Community College. Prior to that tenure he had taught music in Montana and Wisconsin. Since retiring from teaching he has kept active in performing, arranging and composing works for concert organizations and church choirs.

Daniel Leeman

Daniel Leeman is a middle school band teacher in Fargo, ND. Originally from the Twin Cities area, Mr. Leeman graduated with a degree in music education from Concordia College-Moorhead. He has performed with the Concordia Band, orchestra, and jazz bands as well as the Prairie Winds Brass and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Brass. Mr. Leeman served as a student conductor of the Concordia Cobber band, president of Concordia’s CMENC chapter, and student manager of the Wind Band Institute. In 2009, Daniel Leeman co-founded Insightful Music with colleague, Andrew Beard.
